Torrents Art invites the community to join the closing reception of A Handful of Earth, a powerful group exhibition featuring Montana Indigenous artists, on Friday, April 24th from 6–8 PM at The Confluence Center.

This special evening offers a final opportunity to experience the exhibition, which has brought together deeply personal and place-based works reflecting Indigenous perspectives on land, family, culture, and everyday life. The closing reception will include featured artist talks beginning at 7:00 PM by Monica Gilles-BringsYellow and Faith Price, who will share insights into their creative practices, inspirations, and the stories behind their work.

Inspired by the words of a Traditional Pueblo Blessing—
“Hold on to what is good, even if it is a handful of earth…”—
the exhibition centers themes of resilience, connection, and the enduring strength of cultural identity.

Featuring work by Monica Gilles-BringsYellow, Marita Growing Thunder, Faith Price, Tasheena Wolfchief, Alison Kelly, and the traveling photography exhibition Indian Country In A Glimpse (with photographers Amaru Bennet, Jason Songers, Katie Medicine Bull, Sara Scott, Ricardo Costilla, and Kresta Wickum), A Handful of Earth captures both the beauty and complexity of contemporary Indigenous life.

Guests are encouraged to attend this intimate closing event to engage directly with the artists, reflect on the exhibition’s themes, and celebrate the vibrant creative voices shaping Montana’s Indigenous art community.

A Handful of Earth is on view through April 24th and may also be seen by appointment through The Confluence Center.
